US ethanol production rises for first time in a month

Houston—US ethanol production in the reporting week ended August 2 rose 21,000 b/d to 853,000 b/d, the first gain in four weeks and erasing the prior week’s drop, Energy Information Administration data showed Wednesday. US ethanol stocks also increased, climbing 263,000 barrels to 16.716 million barrels on major stock builds in the Gulf and West coasts. Gulf Coast ethanol stocks jumped 255,000 barrels to 2.895 million barrels, the highest level in five months as it had not been this high since the reporting week ended March 1, when it was at 2.901 million barrels.
