Cyprus approves draft of Total LNG deal

Nicosia—The Cyprus government has approved the draft of a memorandum of understanding addressing the participation by France’s Total in a planned LNG export facility in Cyprus, the Cyprus Mail reported on Thursday. Sources at Total’s Nicosia office declined to comment on the report, but a source at the Cyprus Ministry of Energy said it is possible that a final document may be signed next week. Total’s participation in the island’s proposed LNG project was discussed in June during a meeting in Paris between Cypriot President Nicos Anastasiades and Total’s CEO Christophe de Margerie.
