Jordan makes case for Israeli gas imports

Jerusalem-Jordan, which depends on Egyptian natural gas for roughly 80% of its power gen- eration requirements, is still looking to sign a gas import deal with Israel, and may look to accelerate talks after supplies from Egypt were halted after an attack on the export pipeline. Militants in Egypt's Sinai Peninsula bombed the main gas pipeline to Jordan on Sunday amid a surge in attacks since Islamist president Mohamed Morsi was deposed. Jordan receives gas through the Arab Gas Pipeline, which goes on to Syria and then to Lebanon.
