PetroSA, Sasol sign South Africa exploration deal

Cape Town—South Africa’s state-owned Petro- SA has agreed with fellow South African oil firm Sasol to explore offshore blocks in South Africa’s Orange Basin, the first such cooperation between the two companies in 10 years. The deal comes as South Africa looks to intensify exploration in its offshore in a bid to reduce its energy import dependence. Sasol and PetroSA each have 50% equity in the block, which lies in water depths of 100 to 500 meters. PetroSA will be the operator of the Technical Cooperation Permit (TCP).
