PetroVietnam likely to move on Dung Quat expansion

Hanoi—State-owned PetroVietnam is likely to push ahead with plans to expand its 6.5 million mt/year (130,000 b/d) Dung Quat refinery having received approval from Vietnam’s prime minister Nguyen Tan Dung and having found a likely partner in Russia’s Gazprom Neft. The expansion plan would see the refinery’s capacity rise to 10 million mt/year and is estimated to cost $3 billion, according to Binh Son Refining and Petrochemical Co., the plant’s operator.
