Houston-Houston-based Apache moved to bolster its position in the liquids-rich Anadar- ko Basin of Texas and Oklahoma with the announcement January 23 that it has agreed to buy privately held Cordillera Energy Part- ners for $2.85 billion. The deal would give Apache net output of 18,000 b/d of oil equivalent and proved reserves of 71.5 million boe. The purchase also comes with access to 254,000 net acres of potential liquids plays in the basin. The acreage holds 14,000 potential drilling sites, Apache said.
