AAR could sell TNK-BP stake if BP bid fails

Moscow—The fate of Anglo-Russian oil producer TNK-BP remains uncertain after its Russian shareholder the Alfa-Access-Renova (AAR) consortium said it might sell its own shares to a third party, or through a TNK-BP initial public offering, if it can’t buy BP’s shares. AAR CEO Stan Polovets said October 9 that the group would still like to buy out BP, but if its bid for BP’s stake fails it would require other options.
