EU working on July 1 date for Iranian oil import ban

Brussels-The European Union is propos- ing that its ban on the import of Iranian oil come into force on July 1, giving companies and countries five months to find alterna- tive supplies, an EU diplomatic source said January 17. The source said discussions on all areas of the proposal were still open, but that the date of July 1 was the one con- tained in a draft document being debated by EU diplomats.
