Latest EIA import, export data shows shifts

New York-US net petroleum imports last November were 7.985 million b/d, the third time in 2011 they fell below 8 million b/d, according to Energy Information Administra- tion data released January 30. That was a slight increase from the 7.89 million b/d recorded in October, but still reveals dramatic changes. For example, a year earlier, US net petroleum imports were just under 8.5 million b/d and they were almost 9.2 million b/d as recently as June 2011.
