UK’s Cove mulls sale of Mozambique gas block stake

London—The UK’s Cove Energy saw its shares soar December 13 after announcing it has opened a data room for the potential sale of its minority stake in Mozambique’s massive Rovuma Area 1 offshore natural gas discoveries. In an operational update, Cove said it has opened the data room to “certain parties who expressed an interest” in its 8.5% stake in Rovuma Area 1, operated by the US’ Anadarko Petroleum. In November, Anadarko said its Windjammer, Barquentine, Lagosta and Camarao gas finds in Rovuma Area 1 hold over 30 Tcf of gas, supporting plans for a world-class LNG development.
