Kazakhstan looks for Karachaganak solution

Almaty, Kazakhstan-Kazakhstan is seeking "a package agreement" with the international consortium developing the giant Karachaganak gas field in western Kazakhstan in order to settle various disputes and as a prerequisite for commercial talks on state-owned KazMunaiGaz joining the project, oil and gas minister Sauat Mynbayev said October 6. Such an agreement would enable the project to move on with KazMunaiGaz as a partner and all outstanding issues-over tax, labor laws, environmental damage and overproduction-to be resolved at once.
