UK Vedanta completes buy of interest in Cairn India

Mumbai—UK based Cairn Energy has finally sold a 40% stake in its Indian subsidiary Cairn India to London-listed Vedanta Resources, it said December 8. Two days after announcing Vedanta had fulfilled all sale and purchase agreement conditions and received all necessary regulatory approvals, Cairn Energy received $4.1 billion in cash from the sale of 30% shareholding in Cairn India. The company completed the sale of a 10% shareholding in Cairn India to Vedanta in July for $1.4 billion in cash.
