Saudi Arabia, Shell JV wins gas appraisal approval

Dubai-Saudi Arabia's oil ministry has given its approval for the South Rub al-Khali Company (SRAK), a joint venture between Saudi Aramco and Shell, to move to the appraisal phase of its Kidan gas area after completing the first phase of an exploration program, SRAK said in a statement November 16. "As a result of this approval, SRAK will be drilling up to three appraisal wells and conducting extensive studies aimed at further defining development concepts for the field. The venture has committed to completing the appraisal of Kidan area by end 2013," it said.
