Natural gas futures off sharply as us storage builds

Knoxville, Tennessee-The Energy Information Administration on May 5 reported a larger-than-expected injection into US natural gas storage of 72 Bcf, lifting nationwide stocks to 1.757 Tcf for the week ended April 29. The build was in large part the impetus for a plunge in the New York Mercantile Exchange June gas futures contract of 31.6 cents to $4.261/MMBtu, the most dramatic drop for a front-month contract in more than a year.
