EPA chief Jackson to head US Gulf restoration group

Washington-US Environmental Protection Agency Administrator Lisa Jackson will become the public face of the government's efforts to restore the Gulf of Mexico in the wake of the April 20 BP Macondo blowout, the White House announced September 28. Jackson was named by President Barack Obama to head the Gulf Coast Ecosystem Restoration Task Force. The group will coordinate federal, state and local efforts to restore the environment and economy of the Gulf states as the effort there transitions from responding to the massive oil spill to longterm recovery efforts.
