Iraq signs final West Qurna 2 oil contract

Baghdad-Iraq January 31 signed the last of the final contracts for the 10 oil fields awarded to foreign oil companies in auctions last year with the signing by Russia's Lukoil and Norway's Statoil of the contract for the 12.8 billion barrel West Qurna 2 oil field.Lukoil, as operator, will have a 56.25% stake in the West Qurna 2 joint venture with Statoil holding 18.75% and Iraq's North Oil Company 25%. The contract is for 20 years with the possibility to extend by a further five.
