Tokyo-Japan's Nippon Mining Holdings, parent of refiner Japan Energy, posted net profit of Yen 6.314 billion ($69.68 million) for the quarter ended December 31, compared with a net loss of Yen 79.86 billion in the year-ago period, the company reported February 3. Nippon Mining's net profit for the April-December period came in at Yen 25.08 billion, compared with a year-earlier loss of Yen 34.08 billion, the company said. Operating profit for the period was Yen 31.97 billion, compared with Yen 77.63 billion in 2008, while revenue dropped 30.9% year on year to Yen 2.326 trillion.
