Tokyo-Japan and China are coordinating a schedule to hold their first high-level talks on developing disputed gas fields in the East China Sea in Tokyo July 27, a Japanese government source said July 20, although a specific date has not yet been agreed. The two sides will finally start discussions over joint development of the long-disputed fields after then-Japanese Prime Minister Yukio Hatoyama and Chinese Prime Minister Wen Jiabao agreed in late May to move forward on the negotiations (ON 6/1).
