Philippines' Petron seeks relief on 3% crude tariff

Manila-The Philippines' largest refiner Petron has asked the government to consider removing a 3% tariff on crude oil imports, a company source said last week. The Committee on Tariff and Related Matters met recently to decide whether to grant the refiner's request but a decision is yet to be made, a government official said. If the tariff is removed, it could cost the government as much as Pesos 9 billion ($203 million) in lost revenue, Tariff Commission Chairman Edgardo Abon said.
