US weekly retail gasoline demand gains 1.1%: survey

Houston-US retail gasoline demand rose 1.1% to 66.056 million barrels in the survey week ended December 3 compared to the prior week, according to data released Decem- ber 7 by MasterCard Advisors. Compared to the same week a year ago, however, retail demand last week of 9.347 million b/d was down 0.1%. "Gasoline pumping increased week to week as drivers most likely filled up after the holiday travel, and then again at the end of the week," John Gamel, director of economic analysis for MasterCard Advisors Spending- Pulse, said in a statement.
