Work begins on Dongfang petrochemical complex

Singapore-Chinese offshore oil and gas pro- ducer CNOOC has begun construction of a Yuan 8.3 billion ($1.25 billion) petrochemical facility in Dongfang city in southern China's Hainan Island, the official Xinhua news agency said November 15. The first phase of the project, which will cost Yuan 4.34 billion, will have catalytic cracking units to make products such as LPG, MTBE, naphtha and diesel blending compo- nents, according to Xinhua.
