Jakarta-Indonesia expects its LNG production to fall by 2.5% to 17.7 million mt in 2009, from 18.1 million mt last year, because of naturally declining output and reduced export commitments agreed with the country’s Japanese buyers, a senior official said January 9. Indonesia’s Bontang LNG plant in East Kalimantan is expected to produce 15.5 million mt this year, down from 15.9 million mt in 2008, said Iin Arifin Takhyan, vice president of state-owned oil and gas company Pertamina. The Arun plant in Aceh, north Sumatra, is likely to maintain its production at 2.2 million mt this year.
