KazMunaiGaz EP cuts main units 2009 output forecast

London-KazMunaiGaz Exploration Production, the upstream arm of Kazakhstan's stateowned KazMunaiGaz, has cut its oil production forecast for its two main producing units by almost 4% for 2009 due to the fall in crude prices, the company said last week. Production on the company's main assets-Ozenmunaigas and Embamunaigasis scheduled to reach 9.14 million mt (184,320 b/d) next year, 3.8% lower than the previously forecast level. "This is a result of lower oil prices making the maintenance of production levels at some wells uneconomical," KazMunaiGaz EP said in a statement dated December 25.
