Summer hurricanes destroyed 60 US Gulf platforms, MMS reports

Washington-Hurricanes Gustav and Ike destroyed 60 Gulf of Mexico oil and gas platforms this summer, taking a little more than 1% of the region's production off-line, the US Minerals Management Service said November 26 in its final hurricane damage assessment. The destroyed platforms on average produced about 13,657 b/d of oil and 96,000 Mcf/d of natural gas, according to MMS. This was 1.05% of oil production and 1.3% of gas output in the Gulf of Mexico.
