Washington-A dramatic slowdown in the US and world economies will push fuel demand and prices considerably lower in the fourth quarter and well into 2009, the US Energy Information Administration said November 12 in its monthly Short-Term Energy Outlook. US fuel consumption in the fourth quarter will be 19.60 million b/d, the EIA reported, down 3.2% from its October estimate of 20.25 million b/d. Fourth quarter gasoline consumption will be 9.01 million b/d, according to EIA, or 1.5% lower than the agency's prior forecast.
