Kalimantan-Java pipeline hangs on gas supply

Jakarta-Indonesia has threatened to re-evaluate building the proposed 1,219 km (750 mile) pipeline from East Kalimantan to Central Java unless Bakrie and Brothers, a private domestic company, secures natural gas supplies, a senior government official said November 9. "The project will depend on the gas availability in Bontang," the chairman of downstream regulator BPHMigas Tubagus Haryono said. "If it can't secure the gas supply, we will re-evaluate the project. We need an immediate certainty about the gas supply."
