Juneau-Alaska legislators are making major changes in a proposed new state Petroleum Production Tax that could add us2 billion a year to the industry's tax bill. Governor Frank Murkowski warned lawmakers late last week if they push taxes too high it could jeopardize a us20 billion gas pipeline contract the state recently negotiated with North Slope producers (ON 2/23).
