Rosneft, Gazprom to join forces in widescale energy cooperation

Moscow-Russia's two largest state-owned energy companies, oil firm Rosneft and natural gas giant Gazprom, are set to increase their dominance over the country's energy sector, having agreed November 28 to cooperate in virtually all possible areas of the industry. The companies, which around two years ago discussed the possibility of a merger, plan to jointly work in a number of oil, gas, power and petrochemical projects in Russia and abroad, the companies said in a joint statement. Cooperation will be both upstream and downstream.
