The Dominican Republic is weighing three options for the construction of a privately financed refinery that would eliminate the country's dependence on fuel imports and turn it into an exporter,taking advantage of the two-day shipping distance to the US.An official at the hydrocarbons department of the country's Secretary of Industry and Commerce said late last week Dominican authorities are in talks with three groups of investors from the US,the Middle East and Europe on construction options.He declined to name the potential investors.
