EnCana's decision to stake the bulk of its future on North American gas plays has paid off in a 3 Tcf rise to 29.5 Tcf over the past year in its total gas resource potential,two-thirds of which the Canadian independent says it could convert to proved reserves within five years if it chooses.It reported Apr 27 its own engineers have placed the unbooked resource potential,the bulk of it in North America,at 19 Tcf of gas and 900-mil bbl of oil and natural gas liquids.
