EIA sees lower US oil,gas use after Katrina

Washington-Demand for oil,products and natural gas should be down,but prices should be higher in the near to medium term as the US copes with disruptions and damage wrought by Hurricane Katrina,the US Energy Information Administration said Sep 7.EIA,the statistical arm of the Energy Department,lowered its expectations for US oil demand by 200,000 b/d in the third quarter and by 100,000 b/d for the fourth quarter from last month's forecasts due to strong prices and supply disruptions following the strong storm,which made landfall near New Orleans Aug 29.
