Statoil,Sonatrach sign cooperation deal

London-Norway's Statoil has signed a memorandum of understanding with Algeria's state-run Sonatrach to cooperate on a possible integrated LNG export project in Algeria and upstream projects,Statoil said Aug 4.The MoU,signed by CEOs Mohamed Meziane of Sonatrach and Helge Lund of Statoil Aug 4,covers cooperation between the two groups in Algeria,Norway and internationally,the company said.Under the agreement,the companies will investigate the possibility of an integrated LNG project in Algeria,from exploration and development(based on sufficient proven gas reserves)to the commercialization of gas for the North American market.
