London-French oil major Total said July 15 its reference European refining margin slumped 64% to the lowest level in over six years during the second quarter amid a sharp recovery in global crude oil prices and weak demand for fuels. In a trading update, Europe's biggest refiner said its European Topping Reforming Cracking Visbreaking margin (TRVC) fell to $12.40/mt ($1.55/barrel) in Q2, down from $34.70/mt in the previous three months.
