OTC participants question CFTC move to increase capital

New York-Participants in the over-the-counter energy derivatives market are questioning a recent proposal by the Commodity Futures Trading Commission that would require an increase in capital requirements.On May 8, the CFTC proposed that minimum adjusted net capital requirements be based on all types of cleared derivatives which are commingled in customer, noncus-tomer, or proprietary accounts, at commodity futures brokerages.
