Indonesia expects 2009 oil subsidy to hit 16.8 billion

Jakarta—Indonesia expects the country's fuel subsidy bill to reach Rupiah 155.7 trillion (16.8 billion) in 2009, up 22.8% from 2008 estimates of Rupiah 126.8 trillion, a senior government official said June 26. The fuel subsidies for next year are based on a subsidized fuel quota of 42.8 million kiloliters, an exchange rate of Rupiah 9,100 to the US dollar, and an Indonesian crude price of 120/barrel, said Harry Azhar Azizm, chairman of the house working committee on the budget.
