BP agrees with critical US refinery safety report

Houston-BP agreed January 16 with critical findings of its US refinery safety practices by an independent panel.Outgoing CEO John Browne said the report was "hard-hitting"and completely agreed with its findings while reiterating regret and apologies for the March 23,2005,accidental explosion at the BP Texas City,Texas,refinery that killed 15 workers and injured 180 others.The blast led to creation of the independent panel,which was led by former US Secretary of State James Baker.
