Suncor buys small Valero Denver refinery for 30-mil

New York-Canadian oil sands major Suncor Energy moved June 1 to bolster its downstream foray into the US market,buying Valero Energy's small Denver refinery adjoining Suncor's existing former Conoco plant there.The price was a modest 30-mil,plus inventories,or about 1,000 b/d of capacity.The deal includes a small terminal.Valero,which got the former Asamera refinery in its 2001 purchase of UDS,had noted then the 28,000 b/d Denver plant might be too small to survive on its own.
