Semis exporters face daunting challenge from protectionist measures

The most recent official semis trade data showed signs of stabilising in September; both semis imports and exports showed m-o-m improvement. On a y-t-d basis, both exports and imports still show contraction compared to 2011 but the decline has somewhat narrowed.
