Century Aluminum is to curtail one potline at its 249,000 tpy Hawesville, Kentucky plant with immediate effect due to the current "depressed global price for aluminium". The curtailment will reduce primary aluminium production at the plant by some 49,000 tpy and will affect around 120 employees. UC RUSAL has signed a standstill agreement with banks to delay payments on its 7.4 billion dollars debt. The standstill will last at least two months and could be extended helping the company to restructure its debt payments which total around 14 billion dollars.
