Fibre prices trended downward through much of 2010 in both advanced and developing telecom markets, including several major markets of Asia. There were mixed reports about prices in the early weeks of 2011, with some companies saying that competitive pressures were still in effect. Similarly, there were mixed reports about the extent of inventories in Asia. In March, however, it was clear that inventories were depleted, and there were signs of price increases for bare single-mode fibre in April and early May.
