LG Chem Plans $100-Million Investment To Boost ABS Capacity in Huizhou City

Beijing—LG Chem is investing $100-million to increase acrylonitrile butadiene styrene (ABS) capacity to 300,000-t/y by 2018 at its joint venture Huanan facility in Huizhou City, Guangdong Province, China. LG Chem and China National Offshore Oil Corp. formed a 50-50 joint venture in 2008 to build the ABS plant, which currently has a capacity of 150,000-t/y. With the expansion, LG Chem will increase its stake in the joint venture to 70%.
