Bayer MaterialScience Planning to End Production of MDI at Brazilian Site

Rio de Janeiro— Bayer MaterialScience has plans to discontinue the production of diphenylmethane diisocyanate (MDI) at its plant in Belford Roxo, Brazil, reported several media sources. The 5'5,000-t/y MDI facility is expected to be mothballed in July 2015. At the same time, about 15,000 t/y of poly-ether polyols production, along with a coating raw materials unit will also be shut down.
