Chevron Phillips Chemical Breaks Ground On U.S. Gulf Coast Petrochemicals Project

Houston— Chevron Phillips Chemical Co. has broken ground at the Cedar Bayou facility in Baytown, Texas, for its U.S. Gulf Coast petrochemicals project (PCN, 7 Oct 2013, p 1). The project, expected to be completed in 2017, includes a 1.5-million-t/y ethane cracker at Cedar Bayou, and two 500,000-t/y polyethylene (PE) plants in Old Ocean, Texas.
