BASF Is Expanding Global Capacities For Butanediol, Polytetrahydrofuran

Ludwigshafen— BASF plans over the next two years to increase its worldwide capacities for the production of 1,4-butanediol (BDO) and polytetrahydrofuran (PolyTHF) to 650.000 t/v and 350,000 t/y, respectively. The company noted that it continuously expands its production capacities by implementing measures to boost efficiency and improve its infrastructure. These measures include, in particular, investments in the double-digit million euro range to increase capacity for BDO in Geismar, La., and PolyTHF in Caojing, China.
