Dow Reducing Workforce by 2,400 Jobs, Closing 20 Facilities in Restructuring

Midland-Dow Chemical is undertaking a restructuring program that will result in a net reduction of approximately 2,400 positions, or 5% of its global workforce, and the shutdown of about 20 manufacturing facilities. The program is intended to accelerate cost reduction actions and advance the next stage of Dow's transformation in the midst of persistently slow macroeconomic growth. It is expected to result in operating cost savings of approximately $500-million by the end of 2014.
