Houston— Kinder Morgan Inc. (KMI) and El Paso Corp. have reached a definitive agreement for KMI to acquire all outstanding shares of El Paso for approximately $38-billion, creating the "largest natural gas pipeline network and largest midstream energy enterprise in North America." The combined company will have 80,000 miles of pipelines and will be "the largest independent transporter of petroleum products in the U.S., the largest transporter of CO2 in the U.S. and the largest independent terminal owner/operator in the U.S.," noted KMI.
