Qafco 6 Makes Venture 'World's Largest' Single Site Producer of Ammonia, Urea

Mesaieed-Qatar Fertilizer Co. (Qafco), a joint venture of Industries Qatar (75%) and Yara International (25%), "is now the world's largest single site producer of both ammonia and urea" with the start-up of Qafco 6, noted Industries Qatar Chairman and Managing Director Mohammed Bin Saleh Al-Sada. Qafco 6, scheduled to be formally inaugurated on 11 Dec, increases Qafco's ammonia capacity in Mesaieed, Qatar, to 3.8-million t/y from 3.6-million t/y, and raises urea capacity to 5.6-minion t/y from 4.3-million t/y (PCN, 9 May 2011, p1).
