Evonik Completes Marl CDT Plant Repairs; Will Resume Production of Polyamide 12

Marl—Evonik Industries said it has completed "extensive" repairs at its cyclododecatriene (CDT) plant in Marl, Germany, and plans to resume production this month. A 31 Mar. 2012 explosion and fire in the CDT facility forced Evonik to halt production (PCN, 9-16 Apr 2012, p 2). An investigation into the cause is still ongoing, but according to an independent expert retained by Evonik, "it can be considered as certain that an overdosage of a catalyst caused the damage."
