Canada's NEB Begins Energy East Pipeline Hearings

Canada's National Energy Board (NEB) has begun hearings into TransCanada's proposed C$15.7 billion (US$12 billion) Energy East crude pipeline from Alberta to Atlantic tidewater in St. John, New Brunswick. The NEB will hold hearings in nine eastern Canadian cities over the next four months, beginning this week in St. John, and make a final recommendation to Ottawa by March 2017. It will then be up to the federal government to make a final decision on the controversial pipeline.
