North Dakota Output Falls Record 70,000 b/d in April

Bad weather and low oil prices forced North Dakota operators to the sidelines in April, leading to the largest month-to-month production decline in the state’s history. Data from the North Dakota Department of Mineral Resources (DMR) show that the state produced 1.041 million barrels per day in April, down 70,400 b/d from March (OD May13'16). Over the past year-and-a-half, output in North Dakota – home of the Bakken tight oil play – had held up relatively well as leading producers focused operations on their most core acreage (OD Jun.7'16). April’s output is down more than 185,000 b/d from the state’s peak production in December 2014.
